The member representing Ajaokuta Federal constituency in Kogi State, Mohammed Lawal, has expressed confidence that multi billion naira Ajaokuta Steel Company would lead the economic recovery of the country.
He therefore, urged the people to keep faith with President Muhammed Buhari led federal government in revamping the steel company.
He said following the resolution of the legal tussle that had hampered the steel company and the efforts of government at reviving it, Nigeria stood chance of developing the steel sector of the economy.
Speaking at Adogo, headquarters of Ajaokuta local government during the tour of the constituency, the lawmaker also said the people of the area would soon witness massive socio-economic turn around.
Lawal said though the economic meltdown in the country had hampered the rejuvenation of the steel company, the president had shown courage in ensuring that the company bounced back to life.
He also said the people of his constituency would begin to see the realisation of the 2016 constituency projects, as the federal government has just released fund for it.
He said the delay in the release of the 2016 constituency projects affected the completion of the project last year but promised that the 2017 will not be delay.
Lawal however, took a swipe on a group who insinuated that purportedly declared him wanted with a claim that he has no constituency office and was not in touch with his constituent, warning against actions that could lead to crisis in the constituency.
He said, “I am the only person in the whole state that has two constituency offices – one in Adogo and the other in Ajaokuta township.
“I visit my constituency almost on weekly basis. Just because we are not making noise or dance to some people political tune, they set out to ridicule me. But I advise that the play politics of constructive criticism and not bring him down syndrome.”
