Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Olamide Oladiji, on Monday, said the apology tendered by the embattled deputy governor of the State, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, would not hinder the ongoing impeachment process against deputy governor.

Oladiji who stated this while speaking in Akure, said the lawmakers in the State House of Assembly are not concerned about the apology of the deputy governor but determined to carry out their constitutional roles.

According to Oladiji, the apology of the deputy governor to his Principal was a personal issue between the duo and a separate issue from the ongoing impeachment process in the House of Assembly.

The Speaker Oladiji however, denied any bickering between the lawmakers in the House, saying there are no differences among the lawmakers in the Assembly.

He said all the lawmakers are on the same page over the impeachment process of the deputy governor, saying some steps have been taken to ensure all the lawmakers speak with one voice.

He said the lawmakers were on the same course in investigating allegations against Aiyedatiwa, maintaining that there is no going back on the implications process

He said the Assembly would continue with the impeachment process against Aiyedatiwa to ascertain the allegations leveled against him.

It be recalled that Aiyedatiwa had last week tendered apology to his Principal, Akeredolu, for the embarrassment and discomforts he faced over his absence in the state following his medical vacation in Germany

Ayedatiwa noted that the development had brought negative news to the state and major political players said the governor deserved the unreserved apology, and said ” I am at the center. That is exactly what I am tendring this apology for.”

But Governor Akeredolu, who spoke through his Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties, Dr Doyin Odebowale, said the only course of honour for Aiyedatiwa was for him to face allegations of gross misconduct raised by the Assembly.
