Nigeria’s First Lady, Mrs Aisha Buhari, on Monday hosted a special prayer session for Nigeria at the banquet hall of the presidential villa, Aso-Rock.
Aisha in her address at the event emphasized on the importance of worship which she said: “is the highway through which our requests and innermost desires are achieved.”
The First lady further spoke on the responsibility of heads of households, charging men to adhere to the teaching of the Prophet Muhammad and be responsible for their family through love and care, which she explained will spread across society and generations and address multiple societal ills affecting the nation like drug abuse, corruption, violent crimes etc.
Aisha also called for the Muslim Ummah to promote the spirit of tolerance, love, harmony, and peaceful coexistence among the people of different faiths in the country.
Prof.Ishaq Oloyede, JAMB registrar who is also the Chairman of the occasion and Secretary-General of Nigeria Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs, said Nigeria has been caught at the crossroads.
Oloyede said the tradition of corruption had nearly brought the nation to its knees, but for the intervention of President Muhammadu Buhari.
He called on Nigerians to be better people in all spheres of life if the country was to attain its expected greatness.
The event was graced by several political appointees, Islamic scholars and ministers among whom are the minister of interior, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu; former Governor of Nasarawa state, Sen. Tanko Almakura among others.
Beyond the event, the First Lady had taken to her Twitter page @aishambuhari to appreciate the presence of scholars and government officials that attended the prayer session and called on the Muslim Ummah to promote the spirit of tolerance, love, harmony and peaceful coexistence among people of different faith in the nation.
