Air travellers in Bauchi state are to enjoy rebate in the fare charged by the airline as Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with MaxAir Transport Company for daily air services from Bauchi to Abuja.
According to Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir while signing the MoU explained that, until the route fully gets stabilised, the state government will subside 30 per cent of seats as the government is not unmindful that in every aspect of human activities, transportation plays a vital role.
The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Sen Baba Tela stated that “It is in the realisation of the role of Transportation in the upliftment of the living standard of people that the present administration in the state has taken steps to transform the sector”.

The governor further described the signing of the MOU as a welcome development as it will strengthen the administration’s commitment towards promoting Public-Private Partnership for the development of the state.
He explained that the purpose of cooperation of Government and Private sector through PPP is for fulfilling sustainable services saying that, “Certainly this agreement will fast track access to markets, goods and services, empowerment, housing, healthcare and education among others”.
Bala Mohammed also pledged to give the necessary support and encouragement to facilitate the general public and some agencies of government to patronise the air transport system in the state.
“I am appealing to the Federal Government Organisations, Corporate Organisations, Investors, Tourists and International Organisations to join hands with the Government in patronising the services”, he appealed.
To this end, the Governor said that the state government will monitor the services to be rendered in order to ascertain the standard and quality of the services expressing optimism that the agreement will no doubt improve commercial activities in the state.
He explained that the agreement is to provide commercial Air Transport Services between Bauchi and Abuja using its 128 Boeing 737 aircraft for daily flights at the rate of twenty-five thousand naira for an initial period of 3 months renewable for another 3 months.
On his part, the General Manager of the Company, Dr Raymond Omojale who said the company would commence operation on the 26 of this month, pledged to provide qualitative services which people of the state will be proud of.
