Air force to provide free medical outreach in Kaduna

No fewer than 1,000 people in Barakallahu community in Igabi Local Govement Area of Kaduna State will benefit from the free medical outreach of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Training Command, Kaduna.

The outreach is part of the activities marking the 53rd anniversary of NAF in Nigeria.

The Air Officer Commanding, Training Command (AOC), AVM Christopher Okoye, said the medical outreach was a directive of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar.

Okoye said the directive was part of the corporate social responsibility of NAF to its host community.

“The gesture is to strengthen our relationship with our neighbours,” he said.

Okoye said what we are asking from the community is peace and cordial relations as neighbours.

He said with the current security challenges any abnormal movement should be reported to NAF or any security operatives for proactive measures.

He said the command would also rehabilitate four water boreholes in the community, adding that good water would reduce sickness in the area.

The commanding officer said the outreach would include eye treatment, blood pressure and diabetics testing and treatment, among others.

“Any treatment that is beyond the scope of the work will be referred to NAF medical base,’’ he said.

Earlier, the District Head of Rigachikum, Alhaji Ahmad Aliyu, commended the NAF for the gesture.

Aliyu, represented by Alhaji Ibrahim Sulaiman, the Sarkin Haha, said the gesture would never be forgotten.

“We will give all the support NAF needed in providing security for safer society,’’ said the traditional ruler.
