The Chairman of Globacom, Dr Mike Adenuga Jr. has many terms of endearment which come in handy every 29th of April, his birthday.
His 71st birthday some days ago carried the usual affection, remarks, prayers, and wishes to the man known to many as ‘the guru’, ‘spirit of Africa’, ‘the Chairman’, ‘Baba Glo’, and many others.
It was a litany of love and prayer requests for the billionaire from friends and admirers across the globe.
Regarded as the third-richest person in Africa with a $6.8B net worth declared by Forbes, his company, Globacom is Nigeria’s second-largest telecom operator with a presence in Ghana and Benin.
Dr. Mike Adenuga was born in Ibadan in 1953 to Chief Mike AgboladeAdenugaSr, a schoolteacher while his mother, Mama JulianahAdenuga, was a prominent textile merchant from a royal family in Ijebu.
Adenuga made his first million in 1979, at age 26, selling textiles and distributing soft drinks, he received a drilling license and in 1991, his Consolidated Oil struck oil in Ondo State, making his company the first indigenous to do so in commercial quantity.
Known for his benevolence and act of secret giving, tales abound of how he has touched many lives and made dreams come true, little wonder his birthday is widely celebrated across Africa and beyond.
