Suspected armed bandits have kidnapped eleven construction workers from Talata Mafara local government, Zamfara state.
Nigerian tribune gathered that those kidnapped were allegedly working as labourers in a construction company, “TRIACTA Nigeria,” in the area.
It was further gathered that the armed bandits entered Talata Mafara town around 11:00 pm on Wednesday and besieged an apartment where the alleged staff of the construction company were residing.
A source who is a resident of Talata Mafara told our reporter that the striking armed bandits had initially kidnapped fifteen persons.
However, one of the kidnapped victims tried to escape along the way and was shot severally by the bandits and is currently receiving medical attention at the hospital.
“Three other abductees have escaped from their captors, while (11) victims were in the hand of the bandits”.
The source stressed that the quick intervention of the security agencies in Talata Mafara has assisted; if not, it would have been a pathetic operation.
According to him, the heavy presence of security forces has scared the bandits to run out of the town.
“Sound of gunshots has reached up to 3:00 am of Thursday, and many residents remain indoors for fear”.
Efforts to confirm the incident were unsuccessful, as Zamfara state police public Relations Officer (PPRO) Yazid Abubakar’s phone numbers were unreachable when filing this report.
Efforts made to speak to the Police Spokesperson for Zamfara DSP Yazeed Muhammad proved abortive as he replied to the Managing Editor via a text message that he was in a meeting and would call back.
