Barely 48 hours after two officers of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC) were abducted in Osun, suspected kidnappers again seized two persons around Esa Odo in Obokun local government area of the state on Monday evening.
Nigerian Tribune authoritatively gathered that they were traveling between Esa Odo and Ilare-Ijesa when their vehicle was ambushed by gunmen around 5.15pm.
Credible sources gave the names of the abductees as Chief Amusa Olaleye Dusin and Tayo.
Findings by our correspondent indicated that Dusin is a traditional title holder as Tirimi of Ibokunland.
A credible source informed the Nigerian Tribune that Dusin was having about four other occupants in his vehicle when he was abducted alongside another person simply identified as Tayo, while others manage to escape.
A relative of Dusin, Mr. Ajayi Awesu, who spoke to journalists about the incident said his (Dusin) vehicle was later abandoned around Agric area in Esa-Oke.
Meanwhile, the kidnappers have demanded a ransom of N2million for the release of the kidnapped victim after reducing the ransom from N50million to N2million.
When contacted over the incident on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Osun State Police command, Mrs. Folasade Odoro confirmed the abduction but said the Police was intensifying efforts to ensure the release of the abductees.
Reacting over the development, the Owalare of Ilare, Oba Adejoro Otebolaku, who spoke through the spokesperson of the community, Mr Tope Abiola lamented that the herdsmen have been terrorising the community serious in the recent time, saying that farmers could no longer go to their farms for fear of attack and bastardisation of their farm crops.
The monarch called on the government to come to the aid of the people by providing adequate security for inhabitants of the community and as well curtail the nefarious activities of the herdsmen and kidnappers.
