After explosion, Niger youths urge government to deploy bomb experts to Galadima Kogo

The concerned Shiroro Youths of Niger State has strongly called on the government to immediately mobilise and deploy bomb experts to Galadima Kogo, Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.

It made the call on Thursday in a press statement made available to the newsmen by Sani Abubakar Yusuf Koki and Bello Ibrahim, co-conveners of Shiroro Youths of Niger State in Minna.

The statement alleged that Galadima Kogo and its environs have become a war theatre where in the last invasion of the town by terrorists, explosives believed to be Improvised Explosive Ordinance Devices (IEODs) exploded and unfortunately killed four officers of the Nigeria Security & Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

The statement explained that “Given the ugly development, the Concerned Shiroro Youths of Niger State implores the government to be more proactive by deploying experts to the embattled areas to diffuse IEDs that might still be beneath the ground. This step if taken will undoubtedly go a long way in forestalling possible tragedies.

“We urge that the entire troubled areas, particularly Galadima Kogo, be manned by anti-bomb experts to effectively comb the war-tone Galadima Kogo and environs. There is every reason to suspect that IEDs already planted are still lying fallow and only waiting for time to explode.

“At the moment, the entire town is no longer habitable, hence the need for urgent government intervention.”

In the same vein, the Concerned Shiroro Youths of Niger State said it was passionately appealing to government to immediately mobilise relevant agencies to the affected areas and ascertain the level of destruction recorded during the deadly invasion, adding that the victims should be profiled, and supported.

This, it emphasised, will go a long way in cushioning the effects of the event that has further frustrated locals who were already impoverished.
