AFDEC seeks to empower creativity among african women

The senior programme Coordinator, African Fashion Development and Empowerment Center (AFDEC) Ephraim Abutu have restated the organisation’s commitment towards empowering creativity among african women.

He said this on Thursday during the leadership induction and award ceremony of the organisation held at Bodija, Ibadan.

According to him the organisation is a close knitted community meant to help connect, build and grow women.

While he added that AFDEC gives creative african women the opportunities to grants, mentorship, training, exhibitions, local and international trainings.

He added that the mission of the non governmental organisation is to help women in fashion industry have limited access to opportunities for business development.

“We connect women to opportunities that are in fashion such as grants, trainings, brands, funds mentorship, local and international trainings.

In an interview with journalists, the outgoing team lead , AFDEC , Omobolanle Adedeji stated that some government policies are affecting low-income skillful women .

Adedeji who is also the chief executive officer of Whoopyun Limited lament that a lot of women fall victim of abuse in their marriages as a result of hardship faced in the country.

While she urged all women with no source of income to enroll themselves for skill acquisition programs to support their family.

In her address, the newly inducted team lead , AFDEC , Oyo state chapter, Rukayat Salami pledged to bring opportunities for women in the state.

Adding that during her administration as the the team lead in the state, she would give members the platform to thrive through exhibitions and trainings .
