Cybersecurity is often described as invisible. When done well, it is unseen, yet it protects the very foundations of digital trust.
For Adebayo Kalejaiye, this principle has been the defining thread of a career that has moved from Africa’s financial institutions to shaping global digital commerce at Amazon, where he now helps secure systems that safeguard billions of transactions worldwide.
Kalejaiye’s story begins in Nigeria, where he cut his teeth in cybersecurity at Access Bank. There, he led a Data Loss Prevention program worth ten million dollars, protecting sensitive customer data across three continents.
His expertise grew at First City Monument Bank, where he designed monitoring systems that reduced intrusion risks by 80 per cent, ensuring that millions of customers could transact with confidence. At United Bank for Africa, his leadership expanded even further, as he developed policy frameworks that reduced the bank’s cyber-attack surface by 95 per cent across 20 countries. By protecting more than 20 million dollars in assets and improving incident readiness by 80 per cent, he not only secured financial operations but also advanced trust in digital services across emerging economies.
Kalejaiye’s career is distinguished not just by numbers but by the continuity of his mission. Resilience, sustainability, and purpose guide his work. Innovation, he believes, must serve people securely. This value is evident across every chapter of his career.
In 2024, Kalejaiye joined Amazon as a Senior Product Manager on the Payment Risk Team. There, he created the product vision and PRFAQ strategy for a fact-solicitation challenge module, addressing friction in appeal and reinstatement workflows for global sellers.
The solution was projected to raise First Contact Reinstate rates from 70 per cent to 100 per cent by year three and deliver 24 million dollars in annual operational savings, strengthening Amazon’s trust and safety efforts worldwide. He also collaborated with PMs and machine learning scientists to enhance fraud detection across Amazon’s Worldwide Stores. This systematic improvement increased automated fraud detection by five basis points, elevating fraud evaluation automation to 99.94 per cent, significantly improving consumer protection and digital commerce integrity globally.
Supporting his professional journey is a strong academic foundation. Kalejaiye graduated among the top five per cent of his class at the University of Lagos and is pursuing a STEM MBA at Georgia Tech on a full merit scholarship. His thought leadership extends beyond practice.
He has published research in cybersecurity and machine learning, including Reinforcement Learning Driven Cyber Defence Frameworks: Autonomous Decision Making for Dynamic Risk Prediction and Adaptive Threat Response Strategies (2022) and Adversarial Machine Learning for Robust Cybersecurity: Strengthening Deep Neural Architectures against Evasion, Poisoning, and Model Inference Attacks (2024), reflecting his contributions to advancing secure digital systems worldwide.
Kalejaiye’s journey symbolises more than personal success. It represents Africa’s growing influence in shaping secure digital ecosystems. His expertise, honed in high-stakes financial environments, now informs solutions that protect global commerce and digital interactions.
In a time when cyber threats dominate headlines, Kalejaiye’s story underscores a vital truth. Innovation without trust is unsustainable. By building systems that are both advanced and dependable, Adebayo Kalejaiye continues to leave a legacy of resilience that bridges continents and defines the future of secure digital transformation.
