The crisis rocking the fledgling African Democratic Congress has continued to fester as former Deputy National Chairman, Nafiu Bala has again restated his claim to the seat of National Chairman.
Recall that the former National Chairman of the party, Ralph Nwosu-led National Working Committee of the party at an elaborate event held last July handed over the party national secretariat to Senator David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola as national Chairman and National Secretary, respectively.
But speaking with journalists on Wednesday in Abuja, Bala claimed ignorance of the handover of party national secretariat to the duo of Mark and Aregbesola.
Citing provisions of the party constitution, Bala declared that he is taking over the party secretariat in line with the ADC Constitution which empowers him to assume the exalted seat in the absence of its National Chairman or his resignation.
He said: “We aren’t aware of change in leadership. Our former national chairman voluntarily resigns his leadership. Our party constitution is very clear on the transfer of power.
“When our national chairman resigns, automatically our Constitution says the deputy national chairman can take over the leadership of the party. I have now resumed office as the authentic national chairman of our great party, the ADC.“
