ADC, national assemblyTHE Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Ralph Nwosu, on Monday, called on the National Assembly to commence the process of impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari, over what he called “impunity and recklessness in handling the affairs of the country.”

Nwosu who stated this in Akure, Ondo State capital, during the inauguration of the steering committee for the party in the state, said the alleged plan to bribe the National Assembly members to impeach the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki as alleged by the Reformed All Progressives Congress (R-APC) amounted to the impeachable offence.

According to him, the APC led Federal Government had engaged in actions which are contrary to the tenets of democracy, saying the National Assembly should commence the impeachment process of the President.

Nwosu who listed some of the offences of the ruling APC to include, buying of votes during party’s primaries, purchase of vote and using the security agencies to subvert the democratic wish of the people, saying the action of the National leadership of APC and the Presidency amount to the impeachable offence.

He said “This is one of the recklessness that is going on in the villa and we want that to stop. It is a shame that elected people can act the way the APC people are acting. I said recklessness of the executive, unfortunately; these people don’t understand the tenet of democracy.

“They are not doing well but they want to impose themselves. We don’t need the National Assembly members moving from one party to another, if the National Assembly is serious, let them impeach the president.

“There are lots of impeachable offences but they are not doing that. The President is not doing well. When it comes to the election, we are mobilising the people to vote out those who engage in recklessness. It is the Nigerian people that will sack the president from office

“The recklessness of the executive must stop and that is why we need to model political parties. There is recklessness in PDP and APC and it must stop.”

The ADC chairman expressed optimism that the coalition of political parties under the umbrella of Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) remains the only veritable platform to wrestle power from the ruling APC and President Buhari, but however, said the coalition would only be for presidential election alone.

Nwosu said “We are part of the CUPP. All the parties involved are running the National Assembly elections, State Assembly and all the elections. All the political parties are running their elections. However, for the presidency, all the political parties must make sure we send the APC out of the villa.”

Speaking on the inauguration of the Ondo State steering committee, led by Prof Adesegun Ojo, the ADC National Chairman said the committee was put in place to create harmony ahead of the convention of the party.

He said the leadership of the party in the State was to make sure that the people who moved into ADC from PDP, APC and LP are fused into one strong political party.
