Abuja-Kaduna train attack: Tinubu calls for eradication of terrorism, banditry

Published by

National leader of All Progressives Congress (APC) has flayed the terrorists’ attack on Abuja- Kaduna railway, saying terrorism and banditry must be eradicated by all means in the country.

Tinubu, also a former governor of Lagos State, who had earlier cancelled the colloquium organised for him to celebrate his 70th birthday as the event was about to commence at Eko Hotels in Victoria Island area of Lagos, gave the condemnation in a statement he personally signed and made available to journalists, urging his associates to stop any form of celebration of his 70th birthday.

This was just as the APC national leader, who is a leading presidential aspirant on the party platform, consoled the bereaved families as well as those who, he said had been left scarred by the mindless violence, declaring that Nigeria deserved better than what took place on Monday in Kaduna, and terror and banditry should have no place in the country.

According to him, efforts must be made to eradicate them such that these twin evils have no hold on even a centimetre of Nigeria’s national soil, adding that such efforts must not stop until a better future, a greater, more peaceful Nigeria was birthed.

“Nigeria deserves better than what took place yesterday, and at other times. Terror and banditry have no place here.

“We must eradicate them such that these twin evils have no hold on even a centimetre of our national soil. We must not stop until we realize a better future, a greater, more peaceful Nigeria,” he said.

The former governor of Lagos State governor, while further consoling the bereaved families, the wounded and distressed, urged all who could to join him in donating to affected people, saying as one national family, it was imperative to “aid our brothers and sisters at this time.”

“Additionally, I ask all who can, to join me in donating to the families of the bereaved and to the immediate needs of the wounded and distressed. We are one national family. We must aid our brothers and sisters at this time,” Tinubu said.

“I offer my thoughts and prayers. To the wounded, may you heal. To the perpetrators, I have nothing to say except that may the justice you face be swift and uncompromising,” he added.
