Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State will on Thursday inaugurate a 57 -member Elders’ Advisory Council.
The governor in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, said the composition of the Council as part of his administration’s desire to tap from the elders’ fountain of wisdom to give the state the benefit of the knowledge garnered over the years by the statesmen and women.
“It is in order to walk the talk about our commitment to inclusive and participatory governance that we are doing this. We stand to benefit from these elders in our midst,” he said.
The newly constituted Governors’ Elders Advisory Council (GEAC) comprises of critical stakeholders in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and outside the main political parties in the State.
Members of the Council include statesmen and women which include the immediate past chairman of the Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC). Senator Biyi Durojaiye; Senator Adegbenga Kaka; Prince Segun Adesegun; Chief (Mrs) Iyabo Apampa; Alhaja Salmot Badru among others.
They were said to have possessed requisite governance, business and political experiences necessary to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people.
The Advisory Council will be inaugurated at the Obas Complex inside the State Secretariat in Abeokuta by 2 pm.
