The Abia State chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Donatus Nwankpa, on Saturday declared wanted the committee from the national headquarters of the party led by Israel Sunny Goli, sent to conduct ward congresses in the state.
Nwankpa disclosed this while briefing newsmen at the party’s secretariat in Umuahia, stating that the Goli-led committee absconded with those he called disgruntled elements of the party to scuttle the activities of APC.
He maintained that court litigations that are threatening the validity of the National Working Committee of APC did not affect his executive, therefore those who came for the congress had come to cultivate crisis and mayhem by not identifying with his team who had records of those who were aspiring for ward executives.
According to Nwankpa, APC in Abia had no faction and pointed out that it was an error for the national committee not to send the names of the committee members, while efforts made to reach them through calls and text messages proved abortive.
He urged party faithful to go out there and conduct their congress and come back with the results.
Meanwhile, the chairman, National Ward Congress Committee for Abia, Israel Sunny Goli, said he conducted a ward congress that was free and transparent.
Speaking in Umuahia after monitoring the congress, he said all members participated, adding “anybody who boycotted it was on his own”.
Also speaking after monitoring her ward, Ezingodo Ward in Umunneochi, the member representing Isuikwuato/Umunneochi in the National Assembly, Hon. Nkeiru Onyejeocha expressed her excitement that all went well.
