The Baale of Apanpa Village in Akufo, Ido Local Government Area of Oyo State, Chief Rasaki Adebayo, has commended Rotary Club of Ibadan Gold for celebrating Independence Day with residents of the village and extending hands of goodwill.
The club, recently donated clothing items, kitchen utensils and food items, including rice, spaghetti, indomie noodles, among other condiments to the residents of the village.
The Baale, on behalf of the community, commended the club for such gesture, which he claimed they had never received in the village.
He said: “Nobody has done anything like this for us and we have not seen something like this before; we thank Rotary Club of Ibadan Gold for doing this thing for us, we’ll proclaim them to the world forever.”
President of the club, Oyewole Fashina on the motive behind the gesture, said, it is to put smile on the faces of the people and make them feel a sense of belonging as Nigerians celebrate Independence Day.
“We are celebrating Independence Day and we are also celebrating community development in Rotary Club.
“The gesture is just to create a bond with residents of Apanpa village so that they can feel the mood of celebrating the Independence Day,” he added.
Fashina encouraged other philanthropical societies to emulate Rotary Club, by putting smile on the faces of the people.
Meanwhile, the Project Chair of the club, Oluwaremilekun Ajagbe, advised people to show love to individuals in need around them.
“There are some people who are in dire of need, once in a while let us go out and share love with them so that Nigeria can be a better place,” she said.
