Every new academic session ushers pupils/students into new classes. While some transit from primary to secondary school, others are promoted to the next class. In view of this, pupils/students set goals during the academic year. Some JSS 1 students of MEDMINA College, Ibadan, shared with Aunty ‘Yemi their goals in secondary school.
Fatimah Apalara, JSS 1
The greatest among my set goals in the six years in secondary school is that by the time I would be through, I want to be the best graduating student of my set. I am determined to be the best among the best who will be representing Medmina College at competitions. By the time I am in senior secondary, I want to be listed among the prefects. I wish to be known as a good senior to my juniors. In addition, I want to be a time-conscious, responsible, neat and disciplined student. Within these six year, I wish to learn and speak Arabic language.

My goals are to work hard to be at my best in all subjects especially, in English and Arabic languages. During the six years I will spend in the secondary school, I plan to build my public-speaking skill. This will go a long way to help me stand and speak with boldness in public places after my secondary school education.

In the course of my studies in secondary school, learning Yoruba language is one of the goals I would like to achieve. In addition, I would like to broaden my Arabic knowledge as well as the holy book.

The set goals I wish to achieve in secondary school are: to succeed in my Western education and also learn Qur’an and Arabic in order to have a balanced life as a student. I pray God to help me to achieve my dreams.

I plan to have the best external WASSCE and UTME results in Ibadan. I want to be the best student of my set in both Mathematics and English language. I want my family to be proud of me as the best student in my school.

I want to be the best student throughout my 6 years in secondary school. I would like to be in the history books of Medmina College, Ibadan, as an outstanding student. Secondly, I have the dream of becoming a role model to other students in the position of the school’s Head Boy. It will be a great experience for me.

Throughout my six years in secondary school, I want to make my father happy by being the best in my class. My studies here in the beginning of my journey to becoming a medical doctor. I will do my best to achieve this dream.

Part of my goals to achieve in secondary school is to learn and speak English Language fluently. My school is peculiar so I would like to learn other languages as well and specialise in Arabic language too.
