The Colossus Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos was recently a converging point for media gurus, public relations and marketing giants and other eminent Nigerians in an a place to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the passing of Dimgba Igwe, pioneer Deputy Editor of Weekend Concord and former Vice Chairman of The Sun Publishing Limited.
Igwe, also former Deputy General Overseer of Evangel Pentecostal Church, Okota, Lagos, died on September 6, 2014, aged 58.
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of his passing, friends organised a lecture, entitled, TABLOID JOURNALISM: YESTERDAY, TODAY AND THE FUTURE.
The well-attended event chaired by Thisday publisher, Nduka Obaigbena had veteran journalist, Muyiwa Adetiba dissecting the topic which is of major concern to media practitioners.
Chairman of the Organising Committee, Femi Adesina, former Special Adviser to former President Mohammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, said the epoch gathering was conceptualised to celebrate the gigantic contributions of the late Igwe to Nigeria’s journalism, his unwavering commitment to good governance, public order, advancement of democracy, as well as general development of the country.
