Gunmen have abducted Aribibia Fubara, a director with the Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue Service.

The kidnapping occurred on Monday when the assailants arrived at the Marine Base area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, using a speedboat from the Okirika Waterfront.

Reports indicate that the gunmen, numbering around six, conducted the abduction in a commando-style operation, firing shots indiscriminately into the air to create chaos.

They identified Fubara as their target upon arrival, forcibly taking him onto their boat and fleeing the scene.

As of the latest update, the abductors have not made any contact with Fubara’s family.

Rivers State Police Command spokesperson, Superintendent Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident, stating that an investigation is underway.

She added that the Commissioner of Police has ordered the deployment of all tactical units and alerted area commanders to ensure Fubara’s safe rescue and the apprehension of the suspects.
