Schools are on holiday in Oyo State, and children are playing and having fun. AWAU ADEGOKE spoke with some children around Bashorun axis of Ibadan to enquire what they like doing for leisure and fun while on vacation. Their views:
Bamigbade AbdilRahman
I like playing football, watching films, and playing hide-and-seek. I like cooking with my mom, and she teaches me how to cook different kinds of food. I also help my mom to sweep the house, wash plates and clothes, and take care of my siblings.
Bakrin Muadh
I love sports, especially racing and riding bicycle. I do house chores, like washing plates and arranging the clothes. I want to become an engineering ─ so, I love doing things that are related to it. I also share what I have with my siblings and play with them whenever they are bored.
Muhammed King
Playing football makes me happy, and I play it with my friends. I also love other sports, like filling in the bottle, racing, puzzle game, and others. At home, what I do to have fun and keep myself out of boredom is reading books or revising the Quran. If not that, I assist my mom in fetching water and cleaning the house. As the first child, if I have a lot to do or snack, I share it with my siblings. We have fun together.
Balikis Muhammed
I love watching cartoons and fighting movies, and reading story books. Learning how to fight makes me happy because it protects me from bullies. I like helping my mom with house chores like sweeping and picking up the waste, while she smiles and tells me “Well done”. I love helping people because I want to become a doctor.
Hafsoh Qozeem
Reading fun books gives me joy. I like helping my mom, playing with my dad, and playing with all my friends ─ gisting, running, and telling ourselves stories. I also like taking care of my sister and brother. Going to school early and being in front on the assembly ground gives me joy. I love doing charity with my money, sharing with those who do not have. I love fixing my torn clothes with needle and thread.
Ummukulthum Salaudeen
Watching movies and reading stories about my religion makes me happy. I love doing house chores, sweeping the house and washing plates. I love having a good talk with my friends and going out together too. I love plaiting hair. I want to study accountancy.
