Do you know that the Israelites are still waiting for the Messiah? The Messiah came but He was rejected. They expected a conquering Messiah and not a suffering Messiah. After 2,024 years, it appears they are in an endless wait while fighting endless wars. However, the rejected Messiah went ahead to save those who believed in Him all over the world.
In Nigeria, a messiah came in the person of the sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo. Nigerians ignorantly rejected him at the polls. Today, we are the worse for it as we are still languishing in total darkness, groping for a messiah.
May God give us the fortitude to bear the burden of ‘subsidy is gone’. Can the author of this burden, aloof and insensitive to the plight of the poor, be the expected messiah? Time will tell.
