Wife of the founder, Word Communication Ministries (WOCOM) and the convener of the Unique Women Conference, Reverend Omowumi Popoola, has charged women in Nigeria and the world to rise up and take their rightful places in nation building, especially from their respective homes.
Mrs Popoola gave the charge at the 31st edition of the ‘Unique Women Conference’ with the theme,:”Nation Builders,” held at the WOCOM Centre, Onireke, Ibadan, Oyo State
According to her, any nation that wants to achieve a meaningful development must allow its women to play significant roles in the scheme of things.
She said that women constitute the largest workforce of any nation and if that aspect is not well developed, the nation cannot come to its maximum fulfillment.
“If we don’t get it right in this aspect, then everything will be turned upside down. We must focus and put lay emphasis on women championing and developing leadership through the home,” she said.
She encouraged women to influence their husbands and children positively, saying that “if you don’t have the opportunity to lead at the National Assembly or become a CEO of a company, please use the opportunity you have as a wife, mother and woman to influence your children so that they can be wholly formed and be great leaders of tomorrow.”
In her sermon entitled: ‘Finding Your Place in Nation Building’ at the conference, Reverend Folake Achudume of the Victory Life Church said that nation builders are people who are ready to make sacrifices for truth and honour.
She encouraged women to have faith in God to be able to build a godly home and to raise godly children in these difficult days and times.
Also at the conference, Reverend. Funke Adejumo of the Agape Christian Ministries admonished women to support their husbands and treat them well.
She also charged them to focus on harnessing their potential, saying “no man is looking for a liability, but a Proverbs 31 woman.”
In his remarks, Apostle Sunday Popoola said that women have the greatest influence on the lives of their children, hence they have a vital role to play in nation building.
