Do you know there are items you can recycle? It is a process of converting waste products into reusable materials to reduce the use of fresh raw materials and prevent the environment from waste pollution. 

A clean environment is very crucial. That is why you need to protect yourself by disposing of your refuse appropriately, most especially items discussed in this article to prevent health hazards.

Below are items you can recycle:

1. Tires

Tires are products that should be recycled all the time, not burnt as we most times do in our communities; which is not favourable to our health. Car tires and other rubber materials can be fashioned into something else such as nylon and steel.

2. Clothing

You can recycle clothes you’re no longer interested in. It is better to find out where you can donate your used clothes instead of discarding them in unwanted places —- which does a lot of damage to the environment. 

3. Plastics

As of today in Nigeria, plastics are one of the most recycled items. Some companies boldly inscribe “recycle me” on their products. If you don’t know, plastics take forever to break down which is why it is important to dispose of them in appropriate places for easy recycling.

4. Paper

Paper is another item you can recycle. Those office magazines you’ve been keeping, newspapers, and books can be put to good use.  Tissues, cardboard, and greeting cards can be derived from it.

5. Glass

Recycled glasses are used to make beads, construction materials, and so on. This is another way to help the earth reduce waste. It is also used to produce new bottles and help lessen greenhouse gas.

6. Batteries

Batteries contain harmful chemicals that can endanger your health especially when you leave them to rot around the house. Recycling of batteries prevents pollution and also retrenches the cost of making new batteries.

7. Shoes

Shoes are made from rubber, leather, and synthetic materials. So, when they are recycled, they reduce the use of chemicals and energy in making new ones. The amount of waste going into landfills and greenhouse gas emissions are reduced.

8. Bicycles

Bicycles are another common item that you can recycle. Don’t just keep your bicycle that is no longer in good condition nor should you throw it in the trash. Find where it can be refurbished or give it up for recycling.
