Lagos State government on Wednesday flagged off the official opening of expression of interest for the long- awaited commencement of construction of the 4th Mainland Bridge, following the expiration of a 3-week advertisement for its bid, with 39 construction companies showing interests on the multi-billion naira project.
The exercise is the first step of the six listed to be undertaken before the final winner would emerge, with the next step, tagged: Evaluation slated to hold on Thursday.
Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Works and Infrastructure; Aramide Adeyoye, supervised the official opening exercise, alongside the Director-General of PPP and Managing Director Advance Engineering Consultant, Dr Peter Agunbiade.
The exercise, which took place at the Press Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, saw construction giants, including Julius Berger, China Harbour Engineering Company, CCECC Nigeria Ltd., China National Electric Engineering Company, Temple & Grace, Mutual Commitment Company, Nigerian Westminster Dredging and Marine Company, among others filling in their interest to meet the deadline which expired at exactly 5pm Wednesday.

Adeyoye, while speaking, assured Lagosians of the state government’s commitment and sincerity of purpose in ensuring that the project which had been in the pipeline for over 30years was completed to further ease gridlock in the state.
Adeyoye, while responding to questions, said the state government was going to ensure transparency in picking the company that would eventually handle the project, from among those who had shown interest, and thereby secure the confidence of all stakeholders for the realisation of the long-awaited dream to have the proposed 4th Mainland Bridge finally in place.
According to her, all those who bidded “will be given a level-playing ground,” declaring: “Above all, Nigeria would win.”
She assured that the rest of the processes would not take long to complete before the lucky construction company to undertake their project would be known.
