A 40-year-old woman, Patience Johnson, has been beaten to death by her husband in the Agege area of Lagos State.

This is just as the police in the state have also begun investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 22-year-old boy in the Igando area of the state.

The image maker in charge of the state police command, Ben Hundeyin, confirmed the incident to the Nigerian Tribune on Thursday.

The Lagos police image maker also stated that the suspect has been arrested for investigation, while the corpse had been deposited at the mortuary.

According to the police, one of the sons of the deceased woman, simply identified as Destiny, reported the incident at the Elere Divisional Police Station.

The Lagos police image maker said, “On 26/03/2024, at about 14:10 hours, one Destiny, son of Patience Johnson, reported at Elere division that on 25/03/2024, at about 01:40, he received a phone call that his mother’s husband, Emmanuel Okpara, beat her leading to injury and vomiting of blood.

“Destiny subsequently rushed his mother to Orile Agege General Hospital, where she was admitted for medical treatment. The mother’s husband was later arrested and detained.”

The Lagos police image maker also stated that “Unfortunately, at about 7:50 a.m. on Thursday when the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Smith Olanrewaju, visited the hospital to check the victim, the doctor on duty informed him that the woman gave up the ghost at about 6:00 a.m. on Thursday.”

Hundeyin said the deceased boy was rushed home from a hotel vomiting and unconscious, and he was rushed to the Igando General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead.
