40 students honoured as Osun LG holds quiz competition

Forty students were at the weekend awarded prizes ranging from N50,000 to N100,000 in various categories at a quiz competition and scholarship award ceremony held by Ife North Local Government Area for students in government schools in the council. 

The event, organised by Dr Gbenga A. Owolabi, was maiden edition of quiz competition and scholarship awards by the council, and held at Asipa Community High School, Asipa.

Forty-six students out of 54 participated across 10 out of 15 schools in the local government, with 40 of them awarded prizes.

The schools included Origbo Anglican Grammar School, Moro, Asipa Community High School, Asipa, LA Grammar School Ipetumodu, Akinlalu Secondary Commercial College, Akinlalu, CAC Commercial Grammar School, Ipetumodu, The Apostolic Grammar School, Ipetumodu and C & S Grammar School, Ipetumodu.

Others were Anglican High School Edunabon, CAC Grammar School Edunabon, Community High School, Amukegun, Community High School, Oyere-Apamu, Community High School, Okuu Omoni, United High School, Oyere Aborisade and Yakoyo High School, Yakoyo

The awards were given for the best three students and three schools, as well as three best students from each secondary school that participated in the quiz competition.

 In the first category, Origbo Community High (Unity) School, Ipetumodu, got the best school award with N100,000 as cash prize, followed by Yakoyo High School, Yakoyo, with N75,000 cash prize, and Origbo Anglican Grammar School, Moro as third best school, with N50,000 prize.

In the second category, the best student was won by Ayoola Racheal, of Origbo Community High (Unity) School, Ipetumodu, with N100,000 as prize

The second best student was won by Olabiyi Favour of Origbo Community High (Unity) School, Ipetumodu, with N75,000 as prize.

Two students tied in the third position of best student were Imram Hamed of Origbo Anglican Grammar School, Moroand Olubunmi Jumoke of Yakoyo High School, Yakoyo, with each of them receiving N50,000 as prize.

 In the third category, the first, second and third positions were also awarded on school basis, which made over 35 students to go home with N30,000, N20,000 and N10,000 award prizes.
