32 Kaduna General Hospitals abandoned in last 20 years — Gov Sani

Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has highlighted that 32 general hospitals in the state have been abandoned without renovation for the past 20 years, a situation that unfortunately forces citizens to seek medical care in neighboring states.

The governor made this statement while addressing stakeholders from the 23 local government areas of the state.

He also noted that over 1,500 schools in the eight frontline local government areas of the state lack proper fencing.

Sani lamented that most of the hospitals were in a sorry state. However, he stated that his administration has resolved to remodel, reconstruct, and equip six of the general hospitals in the first phase, with two in each of the three senatorial zones of the state.

Furthermore, the Governor disclosed that, in efforts to support the government’s commitment to implementing the Safe School Initiative, two prominent Kaduna-based business moguls, Alhaji Adamu Atta of Fifth Chucker and Alhaji Bukar Shettima of Barbados, would build fences for 100 schools.

He emphasized the importance of healthcare and education, expressing concern over the security challenges faced by schools. He commended the efforts of private citizens in addressing these challenges.

Additionally, the Governor announced plans to complete crucial road projects, with support from the Speaker of the House of Representatives and development partners such as the German embassy and the African Development Bank.

He highlighted the government’s focus on rural revitalization, aiming to improve infrastructure and agricultural value chains.

Regarding security, Sani identified it as the most important area of focus for his administration. He commended the service chiefs for establishing military bases and providing security equipment to enhance safety in the state.

Earlier, stakeholders had praised the Uba Sani-led government for its developmental initiatives, especially in rural revitalization. They appealed for the continuation of abandoned road projects under the previous administration’s Urban Renewal program.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Governor, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, Speaker of the State Assembly, Hon Liman Dahiru, APC State Chairman, Air Commodore Emmanuel Jekada (rtd), Commissioners, and other cabinet members, as well as stakeholders from the 23 local government areas.
