30 abducted FGC Birnin Yauri students regain freedom

Bandits have released 30 students of the Federal Government College (FGC), Birnin-Yauri, on Thursday, after four months in captivity.

The bandits who have decided to release the children in piece meals had initially released eight in the month of June, three in late August, and now, thirty of them today, in the month of October: bringing the total number of students released to forty-one so far, while forty-nine of them are still in the custody of their captors.

In a press statement made available to newsmen and signed by the Special Assistant to the Governor on media and publicity, Yahaya Sarki stated that efforts are still continuing to secure the release of the remaining Children.

The statement went further that the released students would undergo medical screening and support before being reunited with their families.

“We thanked those who have helped in securing the release of the students,” the statement read.
