TRAGEDY struck at the weekend in Enugu when three persons were feared dead in an accident involving a Tanker vehicle loaded with kerosene.
The truck with registers number Number: WAM 228 XA believed to be coming from PortHarcourt to Enugu along Awkunanaw axis got involved in a lone accident and caught fire, leaving three persons critically injured.
Confirming the story, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ebere Amarizu who did not explain the cause of the accident said, “The injured are now receiving treatment at University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH) Ituku/Ozalla-Enugu.
Meanwhile, Amarizu also disclosed that the law enforcement agents have begun a full scale investigation into the alleged fraudulent activities involving the Secretary to the Managing Director of Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Enugu.
The Police Spokesman who gave the names of the suspect as Stella Achalla told newsmen that Achalla was nabbed by the security operatives on Sunday.
“Yes, she was arrested this morning based on several petitions against her.”The petitions border on fraudulent activities. She has to answer for them”, Amaraizu disclosed.
The hospital worker has been standing trial before an Enugu East Chief Magistrate Court on charges bordering on obtaining money under false pretense.
She and her alleged accomplice were arraigned on two counts charge bothering on obtaining money under false pretence, an offence punishable under section 495 (a) and section 386 of the criminal code, cap 30, laws of Enugu state of Nigeria, 2014.
The Police later returned to the same court, presided over by His Worship, Chioke Angela with a fresh charge, which borders on advanced fee fraud.
They were alleged to have collected money ranging from N350,000 to N600,000 from some job seekers, with a promise of giving them employment.
