The was disclosed on Wednesday by the South West commissioner of the World Hepatitis Eradication Commission, Nigeria, Princess Florence Egbeyemi during the induction of the wife of the Ogun State governor, Mrs Bamidele Abiodun as an ambassador of the World Hepatitis Eradication Commission,
Princess Egbeyemi also said that about five million people die annually all over the world from hepatitis
The commission yesterday said they inducted the governor’s wife as their ambassador, because of her recognition and commitment to the promotion of the well being of mankind in all facets.
According to the Commission’s President, Dr Mike Omotosho, the commission was moved by the passion of the Mrs Abiodun for the welfare and well being of people in the society coupled with her track record.

Dr Omotosho said, “We are optimistic that she would champion the course of eradicating hepatitis in Ogun state and the world at large.”
She added that “As an ambassador we expected her to be the face of the commission, advocating for the eradication of the disease, she will also increase the awareness and proffering advisory solutions to the challenges of the deadly disease. “
In her remark, Mrs Abiodun lamented the high prevalence of hepatitis around the world and expressed shock at the high percentage of deaths recorded in the country pledging her unalloyed support at creating the needed awareness as well as support in screening and treating people living with the disease.”
She also appreciated the commission for recognizing her roles and enlisting her as a partner in progress promising to give full commitment and support to the course and the coming world hepatitis eradication day to be marked in Ogun.
