Foremost support group for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, under the aegis of South West Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA), has said the president’s victory in 2027 would be greatest landslide in the history of the fourth republic.
This even as it assured that Tinubu’s presidency would advance the collective interests of the Yoruba and Nigeria in general.
National Chairman of the support group, Sen. Dayo Adeyeye, gave this assurance at a news conference organised to launch SWAGA 2.0, in preparation for the 2027 polls, even as he quickly pointed out that SWAGA was not campaigning for any political party as it was not yet time for campaigns but won’t close its eyes and shut its mouths to the good things currently happening in the country.

Adeyeye, who is also the Chairman, Board of Nigeria Port Authority (NPA) and former Minister of State for Works, while making the declaration of a landslide victory for Tinubu at a press, which took place on Tuesday in Lagos, described as mere myth narrative that the North would not support Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
This was just as he affirmed that the support group was resolved on projecting good governance to the people and sensitising them on the need to support the giant strides of President Tinubu as he rebuilds Nigeria, noting that SWAGA had been vindicated on its message to Nigerians five years ago about the president’s sterling qualities as a leader.
“We are not afraid, it is going to be the greatest landslide victory in the history of the republic even in the northern Nigeria.
“Nigerians should not allow those who are playing to the gallery to be deceiving them, those who couldn’t do anything in their states when they were in government.
“We have not been disappointed, honestly, Tinubu has performed even beyond our expectations because we thought he would be afraid of political pressures to mellow down and not be able to carry out his promises.
“He has confronted everything headlong and he is doing it. We have not seen a leader as courageous as this before who doesn’t think like a politician but as a statesman who is thinking about the next generation,” Adeyeye stated.
On the narrative that the North would not support Tinubu’s re-election, SWAGA National Chairman, Adeyeye, argued that there had never been a monolithic North voting the same way to the same political party, saying that the situation has been the same from the First Republic till date.
He maintained that it remained a mere myth that the North would not vote Tinubu, come 2027, saying that real northern leaders, including senators, governors and important emirs were not complaining about the president’s giant strides, which he captured in several legacy projects across the country.
Besides, he dismissed the gang up by some opposition figures especially under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), saying that such also remained a still birth.
“We must be weary of the myth that Northerners will not vote. The North has at least three geo-political zones. They don’t always go the same way all the time.
“The North has never voted as a monolith. North is not one political entity. Every part decides its own political fate.
“The interests are not the same. Different parts of the North belong to different political parties. I laugh when anyone says the North will not vote for Tinubu in 2027, there is a diversity of interest in the North,” he said.
Speaking on the 13 ongoing legacy projects embarked upon by President Tinubu, Adeyeye listed them to include 9th Mile-Oturkpo-Makurdi Road, Sokoto-Badagry Highway, Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Dual Carriageway, Abuja-Lokoja-Benin Road, Enugu-Onitsha Expressway, Benin – Asaba Super Highway, Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, Oyo -Ogbomoso Expressway, Bose Saadu – Kaima-Kosubosu Road, Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway, Bodo-Bonny Road, amongst others.
Adeyeye, while highlighting several other policies and initiatives of embarked upon by President Tinubu, lauded him for his bold move, saying that if he had not taken such steps, especially the removal of fuel subsidy and floating of Naira, the nation economy would have collapsed completely.
“We are of the firm conviction that if a government in Nigeria has been able to achieve so much within just two years in office in terms of projects and policies, then Nigerians are in for better and brighter future in 4 years.
“We know that ultimately more will be done and the country will experience exponential development and growth in eight years under the visionary and courageous leadership of Tinubu.
“Nigerians should expect that if they give Asiwaju the second term in office, he would lead Nigeria to greater height.
“Asiwaju is fair to all and that should be expected in his second term in office,” he emphasised.
