A chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan South-West Local Government of Oyo State, Ayo Owoseni, has formally declared his intention to contest for a seat in the Oyo State House of Assembly in the 2027 general election.
Owoseni, a Ward 12 member, made the declaration during the party’s LG meeting held at IMG Primary School, BCGA, Apata-Ganga, Ibadan. He said his deep-rooted connection with the community and his experience in local politics positioned him as the best candidate to represent the constituency.

Adopting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s popular campaign slogan “Emi lo kan” (It is my turn), the Assembly hopeful argued that he had paid his dues in the local government’s political space and deserved the party’s ticket.
“I have lived all my life here. I had my primary and secondary education in this local government. I know the problems of our people inside out and I will use this home-grown knowledge to provide solutions through legislative channels,” he said.
His ambition received open endorsement from the Ward 12 Chairman, Hon. Michael Omotoso, who described Owoseni as a grassroots politician with unmatched knowledge of the constituency.
“He understands the politics of this area more than many others. He has been a tremendous asset to the party at both the ward and local government levels,” Omotoso said.
He expressed confidence in Owoseni’s ability to deliver dividends of democracy, urging members to rally behind his bid.
Echoing similar sentiments, another PDP stalwart, Yinka Balogun, assured members that Owoseni’s representation at the Assembly would not bring regrets. He also offered him advice on navigating the journey towards actualising his dream.
