2027: Oyo APC stakeholders vow to reclaim governorship seat

Some stakeholders in the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Oyo State, under the aegis of the Oyo APC Peace Advocates Forum, have vowed to reclaim the governorship mandate come 2027.

This was the crux of the meeting held during a visit to the leadership of APC in Oyo State, led by a chieftain of the party in the state, Prince Niran Adeyoju, who is also the President of Providence Coalition, alongside other eminent party stakeholders at the APC secretariat, Oke Ado Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

The forum emphasised the importance of unity, grassroots mobilisation, and inclusiveness within the party as it prepares for future political activities, promising to help the APC reclaim the Agodi Government House in 2027.

Speaking with journalists shortly after the meeting, Prince Adeyoju, who is the leader and co-convener of the Forum, called for an end to divisions and emphasised the significance of promoting a united front to ensure success in future elections, starting with the by-election in Ibadan North Federal Constituency.

Prince Adeyoju said the Oyo APC Peace Advocates is a body that has been dedicated to the restoration of peace and unity within the Party in recent times, with many stakeholders engaged in fruitful dialogue in the last six months, especially at the grassroots level.

He said, “We must put aside our differences and work as one for the progress of our great party. Only through unity can we achieve the results that the people of Oyo State expect from us.”

Prince Adeyoju, who is a grassroots politician, said it must be mandatory for elected officials to give back to the Party, explaining that political parties should usually run with donations and contributions from those elected under the platform of the Party.

Earlier, Chief Wale Ohu, a key stakeholder in Oyo APC and co-convener and spokesperson of the Oyo APC Peace Advocates, further emphasised the importance of inclusivity, calling on all stakeholders, whether long-time members or newcomers, to feel valued within the party structures.

He noted that a united APC would be better positioned to face the challenges posed by opposition parties and ensure that Oyo State is totally delivered to the APC in 2027.

Reacting, the Oyo State APC chairman, Alhaji Olaide Abas, who described Prince Niran Adeyoju as a strong supporter of the party at all levels, affirmed the credibility of the forum and pledged the support and commitment of the current party leadership in Oyo State to the forum.

He further said that the Oyo APC leadership was aware of the reconciliation moves and efforts of the Forum, especially by the co-convener Prince Niran Adeyoju, in Ibadan North and across the state, which he said was already yielding positive results.

Present at the meeting were: Chieftain of APC in Oyo State and President of Providence Coalition and Co-convener of Oyo State APC Peace Advocates, Prince Niran Adeyoju (SDM); APC Chieftain in Oyo State and Co-convener and Spokesperson of Oyo State APC Peace Advocates, Chief Wale Ohu; Former Speaker of Oyo State House of Assembly and Legal Adviser of Afenifere, Dr Akin Onigbinde (SAN); Former Member of Oyo State House of Assembly, Dr Amdalat Adepeju Esan; Former Commissioner in Oyo State, Prince Gbade Lana; Former Commissioner in Oyo State, Hon.
