Kaduna Governor, Uba Sani, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress for the 2027 general election after securing 459,393 affirmation votes at the party’s primary election held on Thursday.

Governor Sani, who contested as the sole aspirant, received overwhelming endorsement from delegates and stakeholders across the state in what party leaders described as a strong vote of confidence in his leadership, performance, and political direction.

The primary election, monitored by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, attracted top APC leaders, elected officials, delegates, and supporters from the 23 local government areas of the state.

Announcing the result, Chairman of the Kaduna APC Governorship and House of Assembly Primary Election Committee, Hon. Hafiz Ibrahim Kawu, described the exercise as peaceful, transparent, and reflective of the growing unity and internal cohesion within the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general election.

The adoption of the affirmation votes was moved by the Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yusuf Liman was unanimously endorsed by delegates amid chants and celebrations by party supporters.

Speaking shortly after his affirmation, Governor Uba Sani thanked APC members, stakeholders, and residents of Kaduna State for what he described as an overwhelming demonstration of trust and solidarity.

According to him, the endorsement represents a renewed mandate to deepen inclusive governance, strengthen security, and accelerate development across the state.

“We have made significant progress in restoring peace, strengthening unity, and expanding development across Kaduna State through dialogue, inclusion, and people-oriented policies.

“From infrastructure and education to rural transformation and urban renewal, our administration remains committed to improving the lives of our citizens,” he said.

The governor assured residents that his administration would build on the gains already recorded and intensify efforts towards building a more peaceful, prosperous, and economically vibrant Kaduna State.

Meanwhile, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe has declared that the APC remains strong and united across the state ahead of the 2027 general election.

The governor also expressed confidence in the party’s ability to secure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second-term bid and all APC candidates in the forthcoming polls.

Inuwa Yahaya stated this shortly after participating in the APC governorship primary election at his Jekadafari Ward in Gombe Local Government Area on Thursday.

Speaking with journalists after the direct voting process, the governor commended the peaceful and orderly conduct of the exercise across the state, describing the turnout of party members as impressive and encouraging.

He urged APC members in the state to remain committed to the ideals and unity of the party, stressing that Gombe remains a stronghold of the APC with the capacity to record landslide victories at all levels.

“As far as I am concerned, I have said it before and I will say it again, there is no victor and no vanquished in the primary elections. We all belong to the same family. What remains for us now is to consolidate on our gains and prepare adequately for the general elections,” he said.

The governor expressed optimism that the APC in Gombe State would deliver a convincing electoral margin for President Tinubu, the party’s governorship candidate in the state, and candidates contesting other elective positions.

Also speaking, the leading aspirant in the primary election and winner of the contest in Jekadafari Ward and across the state, Jamilu Isiyaku Gwamna, appealed to party supporters to unite in the collective effort to strengthen the APC.

He also called for the consolidation of the achievements recorded under Governor Inuwa Yahaya’s administration to further move the state forward.

Earlier, Chairman of the APC Governorship Primary Election Committee in Gombe State, Sani Danladi, expressed satisfaction with the peaceful and transparent conduct of the exercise as well as the impressive turnout of party members across the state.
