The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State has announced its intention to secure the senatorial and House of Representatives positions in the Cross River northern senatorial district from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the upcoming 2027 general elections.
This declaration was made during a press conference in Calabar on Monday, following a detailed consultative meeting with the State Working Committee and the State Executive Committee of the party.
Cross River APC Chairman, Alphonsus Eba, addressed reporters, highlighting the party’s commitment to strengthening grassroots support and mobilizing resources for a successful campaign in 2027.
He remarked, “We want to emphasize to Senator Jarigbe that it is time for governance.
“We urge everyone to support the administration of Prince Bassey Edet Otu, while we are determined to work diligently to ensure that the seats held by National Assembly members from the opposing party in the Northern Senatorial District are lost and discarded before the next election.

“By the time the next general election arrives, we will have an APC senator and APC House of Representatives members who will manage the affairs of the Northern Senatorial District.”
Additionally, he distanced the party from a petition reportedly filed against the district’s sitting senator, Rt Hon Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, by a group claiming to represent APC stakeholders in Northern Cross River concerning the 12.5 billion Naira Constituency Fund.
Eba clarified, “We want to address a serious matter that arose previously, where a lawyer, Barrister Bernard Afu, was engaged by the party under the guise of concerned stakeholders of APC Northern Cross River. I must stress that the authority to pursue any legal issues is solely held by this party under my leadership, and we unequivocally disassociate ourselves from that.
“I advise all party members to refrain from engaging any lawyer in ways that suggest the party’s endorsement.
“Consequently, the petition supposedly authorized by the APC concerned group against the sitting senator regarding the 12.5 billion Naira Constituency Fund does not represent us, and we fully disown it,” he stated.
