Ahead of the 2027 general elections, former Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, has thrown his weight behind the re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Ambode made this known in Badagry, Lagos, during a sensitisation programme on Permanent Voter Card (PVC) registration, urging residents to register and collect their PVCs in preparation for the 2027 polls.
Speaking through the Director General of Tinubu-Ambo Support Group, Dr. Seyi Bamigbade, the former governor said President Tinubu had laid a solid foundation for the nation’s growth and, therefore, deserved a second term to consolidate on the achievements recorded so far.
He called on Lagosians and Nigerians at large to ensure the president was reelected into office, come 2027, “so we can all continue to benefit from his progressive leadership.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has proven his capacity to lead this country with vision and courage. I call on Lagosians and Nigerians at large to ensure he gets a second term in 2027 so we can all continue to benefit from his progressive leadership.
“As for Lagos State, I am offering myself once again to serve, with a renewed vision to build on the gains of the past and address today’s realities,” he stated.
The former governor’s representative further said the sensitisation campaign was part of efforts to mobilise Lagos residents for active participation in the democratic process, adding that the move was to ensure that every eligible voter in Lagos registers and collects their voter’s card.
“Our message is clear: no PVC, no voting. The group is committed to house-to-house sensitisation to ensure every eligible voter in Lagos registers and collects their voter card. We believe both President Tinubu and Mr. Ambode represent continuity, progress, and people-focused governance,” he said.
The event attracted community leaders, youth groups, and stakeholders who pledged support for both President Tinubu and Ambode in the forthcoming elections.
