No fewer than 191 persons have been killed in Niger, Adamawa, Gombe and Borno States by the flood in 2025.
According to the update from the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) 2025 flood dashboard, 134,435 Nigerians were affected in 47 Local Government Areas (LGAs) across 20 States of the Federation so far.
From the casualties recorded so far, Niger State recorded the highest death rate of 163 persons, followed by Adamawa with 26 deaths, while one person died each in Gombe and Borno States, respectively.
The details of the affected persons as indicated in the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) 2025 flood dashboard showed that 48,056 displaced, while 94 people were declared missing.
The statistics further indicate that 239 persons sustained various degrees of injuries, 9,499 houses were affected, while 9,450 farmlands were destroyed across the 20 States.
Among those severely impacted were 60,071 children, 41,539 women, 27,121 men, 5,704 elderly, and 1,874 disabled persons.
Breakdown of the affected persons showed that: Imo had the highest number of affected and displaced persons, 28,030 and 15,107 persons in Imo State; followed by Rivers State with 22,345 affected and 9,645 displaced persons; in Adamawa State, 12,613 affected and 5,808 displaced; Abia, 11,907 affected and 4,896 displaced persons.
Other States affected by the flood area: FCT, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa, Borno, Edo, Gombe, Imo, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Kogi, Kwara, Niger, Ondo and Sokoto.
