2024 WASA: Brigade 1 Nigerian Army celebrates cultural heritage in Zamfara

The Nigerian Army, 1 Brigade, Gusau in Zamfara State, has assured it will continue its existing cordial relationship with the host community, stating that the annual West African Social Activities (WASA) is an event showcasing rich cultural activities between communities in the state.

The Commander of 1 Brigade Gusau, Brigadier General Opurum Timothy, while speaking during the 2024 combined WASA held at the Army cantonment in 1 Brigade Gusau, said awards were distributed to soldiers for their exceptional commitment to service.

“In this year’s West African Social Activities (WASA), we appreciate the families of soldiers, paramilitary personnel, community leaders, friends, and well-wishers who have gathered to celebrate WASA 2024 with various cultural activities,” he said.

Brigadier General Opurum Timothy assured the people of the state that the military would continue its cordial relationship with communities, working tirelessly to restore peace in Zamfara and Nigeria as a whole.

WASA 2024 in Gusau, Zamfara State, was attended by the Emir of Gusau, represented by Sarkin Gabas Alhaji Bashir Kabir Danbaba, Governor Dauda’s representative, the Commissioner for Security and Home Affairs, Ambassador Mairiga, community leaders, security agencies, and paramilitary personnel in the state.

Additionally, awards were presented to deserving soldiers for their exceptional commitment to duty in the year 2024 in the state.
