A former House of Representatives member, who represented Ohaozara/Onicha/Ivo federal constituency of Ebonyi State, Linus Abaa Okorie, on Wednesday, announced the purchase of his expression of interest and nomination forms in furtherance of his interest to contest the Ebonyi South senatorial election in 2023 under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“Let it be known that I purchased the forms myself and was not gifted or presented with them by anyone or group,” he said.
He noted that, as he aspires for the senate, his message is that the party must conduct a free, fair and credible primary, that imbues the necessary confidence needed to approach and win the general election.
“Let the best candidate win in the greater interest of the party,” he added. “I approach the contest with zero desperation.”
In another development, on Thursday, Okorie took his advocacy for a free, fair and credible party primaries, one he added will guarantee the freedom of the delegates to choose party flag-bearers, to the delegates of Afikpo North and South local government areas.
He emphasised his non-desperation in the race and encouraged the delegates to make the best choice of candidate for each office, one he stated will enhance the chances of the party at the elections.
Okorie commended the leaders of the party in the two local government areas and the work they are doing at the grassroots level.
He said he is satisfied with the level of commitment and enthusiasm of the delegates to see that their party emerges victorious in all elections in 2023.
“For me, what is most important is the victory of the party and not, necessarily, my personal victory,” he said. “May the most suitable aspirant win the nomination.”
