The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board(JAMB) on Friday, in Lagos, expressed satisfaction over the use of only accredited Computer-Based Test (a.k.a CBT centres) for the ongoing registration of candidates for the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations(UTME) across the country.
It says the 100% computerized-registration process and being carried out solely at the various designated centres (where the exam will also take place) nationwide is yielding great results.
The Chairman of Governing Board of the examination body, Dr Emmanuel Aguzie, made the remarks shortly after touring some CBT centres in Lagos on Friday for an on-the-spot assessment of the registration exercise, attributing the development to the ban placed on cybercafes from registering candidates for the entrance exam.
Three centres in all and picked randomly were visited during the tour and they are Ha-Shem Academy, Iwaya, Yaba; ETC Nigeria Ltd(TKK), Anthony, Ikorodu Road and the
Federal College of Education (Technical), Yaba, with each registered over 7,000; 2,300 and 5,000 candidates so far, respectively.
While describing the registration exercise hitch-free, seamless and fraudulent-free as confirmed by both the CBT operators and candidates at the centres visited, the chairman said he does not foresee the registration deadline extended.

According to him, registration is expected to close on February 21 and exam commencing March 16 and these schedules still remain as nothing warrant a change of any so far.
He said JAMB banned cybercafes because of their operators always
overcharged candidates despite their poor service, insisting that only N4, 700 (N3,500 for exam, N500 for a customised book and N700 service charge) is official charges by JAMB per candidate this year and that no centre is expected to collect more than the amount.
Confirming the smoothness of the exercise so far, the trio of managing director of Ha-Shem Academy, Mrs. Mojisola Sodunke; director at ETC Nig Ltd, Mr Jibola Bankole and Mr Ayinla Ahmed(technical officer) at Federal College of Education(Technical) centre, said they had no major hitches so far, unlike past years when network was usually poor, the condition they said had led to fewer number of candidates now coming up for registration each day.
