APPARENTLY concerned about the forthcoming general elections in 2019 the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), under the leadership of His Eminence, the sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has called on Imams to invoke a special prayer (Qunut) across the country.
Qunut is a special prayer usually perform by the Muslim Umma when things appear not to be moving in the right direction and the prayer seek Allah’s intervention.
This was contained in a statement issued to newsmen in Kaduna on Tuesday and signed by the Secretary General of JNI, Alh Khalid Abubakar.

The statement maintained that ‘the call has become imperative bearing in mind that as Muslims, supplications to Allah, the Almighty, is the nucleus of worship, and there is nothing that is dearer to Allah than invocation.
‘It is also the most honourable thing before Him, the Most High, and a surest way to attaining requests put before Him, the statement added.
Hence, Muslims are implored to frequently engage in Du’a, especially for the seemingly palpable fear and anxiety from some quarters towards a resentful free 2019 General Elections.
‘We reiterate our call on Imams to return to special prayers in calamitous situations and trying times (Qunutun-Nawazil), as well as seeking Allah, the Most High for His compassion during and after the 2019 General Elections, for peace and harmony.

Muslims throughout the country are hereby urged to embrace more Dhikr(remembrance of Allah), through glorification of Allah, Istighfar (seeking Allah’s forgiveness) and ceaseless Du’a(prayers and invocations), for ease and relief.
‘This call has become inevitable because prayers remain the most powerful instrument upon which we beseech Allah for His intervention in dealing with evil plotters, as well as Satan himself.
‘Likewise, we call on all Muslim brethren to see it as a point of duty to always include the 2019 General Elections in their respective daily supplications to Allah, for hitch free general elections, not minding the provocative utterances of the political gladiators.
‘We nonetheless call on politicians to be mannered and avoid hate speeches as well as all violent tendencies, seeing that responsible conduct of campaign is a panacea in ushering responsible leadership
