THE Benue State governor, Dr Sam Ortom on Monday dared the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Federal Government that the party would perform woefully to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the coming general elections with the new developments in the State.
Addressing newsmen in Abuja yesterday, Gov Ortom dismissed the rumour making the round that they would allow insecurity to overwhelm the state in order to give room for the Federal mighty to be brought to bear to capture the State.
According to him, “that’s what the APC leadership has been saying and spreading around the state but we are vigilant, ee have successfully completed our gubernatorial campaign and the people have given us their blessing in all 23 local governments
“We are good to go, we have no challenge, that’s why the APC is telling lies and claiming they will use federal might, today, APC leadership has completely failed and has nothing to offer.
“We are going to end godfatherism in Benue state, Benue state belongs to God and there’s no room for godfatherism.
“We have been able to touch lives with infrastructural development.
“Since I left APC, I have been able to pay salaries because there is no burden on me again, we have paid up to date.
“Benue state has one of the highest salary bills after Lagos and Rivers states,

“The issue of salaries is no longer a matter in Benue State because we have given ita priority by stopping projects.
“We have told INEC to do the right thing.
“I’ve debunked Sen Akume who said he will bring federal might, am not sure President Buhari will support that, just like the case of the CJN
“There is a cabal ruling this country but Nigerians did not elect a cabal.
“That’s why we say we want a president who will take control and do the right thing.
“The President can not sanction the leader of another arm of government following due process as spelt out in the constitution of the land, Why didn’t you remove CCT Chairman after he was charged, we are not supporting corruption but you must follow due process.
Gov Ortom who said that the APC did not conduct any primary to pick its Candidates for the Coming elections but came out with crook names vowed that the People of the State would defend votes at the polls to disallow the possible execution of its rigging plans.
He however pleaded that security forces and the media must be professional in the course of their duties and be refused to be used in rigging the elections against the wishes of the people while leaders who have taken the oath of offices to reflect on the content because they did not just take it before men but before God.
The Governor also raised the alarm that the APC led Federal Government was out to eliminate him ahead of the general elections and called on Nigerians and the international Community to hold the government responsible should anything happened to him.
