BAUCHI State Governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar has warned that security agencies have been mandated to deal with anybody plotting an act of violence before, during and after the conduct of this year’s general elections, just as he asked women to stop using henna until after the elections.
According to a press statement signed by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Abubakar Al-Sadique and emailed to newsmen, the Governor made this statement while addressing supporters at campaign rallies held in Zaki and Gamawa local government areas.
“As responsible leaders, we have obligation to ensure that citizens’ political choices are respected and that they are allowed to exercise their civic duties without any form of harassment. We, therefore, warn all those nursing any idea of political violence to steer clear of Bauchi state,” the Governor warned.
While commending the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for introducing the use of card readers in accrediting voters, Mohammed Abubakar urged women who constitute the highest voting block to suspend the use of henna until after the elections because the card reader will not accredit those who use it.
After receiving party stalwarts who defected from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party and Social Democratic Party and the New Nigeria People’s Party along with thousands of their supporters in Zaki, the Governor also commissioned projects executed by his administration including a primary health centre in Sakwa, just as he later commissioned another in Alagarno.
The Governor similarly received thousands of defectors from the PDP in Gamawa local government area, including the local government chairman, Alhaji Malanjo, Vice Chairman, Youth Leader, Women Leader and several aspirants for Bauchi State House of Assembly on the platform of the PDP.
The State Chairman of the APC, Alhaji Uba Ahmed Nana commended them for joining the progressives in the onerous task of nation building.
The Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar 2019 reelection campaign team had earlier commissioned the PMB/GMA campaign office in Azare donated by the former Chairman of the Tertiary Education Fund, (TETFund), Dr Musa Babayo.
