THE People’s Democratic Party (PDP) zonal and flagging of 2019 presidential election is currently going on at Shehu Kangiwa square in Sokoto.
The entourage of the presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, arrived the Shehu Kangiwa square, venue of the zonal rally at about 1:55 pm, alongside the National Chairman of the PDP, Prince Uche Seconds, the DG of the presidential campaign and the Senate President of the federal republic of Nigeria, Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki.
Former President of Nigeria, Dr Good luck Ebele Jonathan, commended the party leadership for putting up such a good turnout in today.

He described the Northwest Zone as a major block in the political history of the country, saying, ” the crowd I saw here today has given me a new hope that the zone is for PDP and for Atiku.
“Upon all the presidential candidate in Nigeria today, I saw Atiku as the only candidate who can bring out the best for the people of Nigeria, based on his past record of both in government and private life.
The national chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus, also stated that the party is on a rescuing mission.
According to Secondus, ” we are here in Sokoto to present a man that will unite Nigerian, a man that will provide Job, that will provide security in the country”
He warned INEC to conduct a credible election that will devoid of any rigging or any form of malpractices in the forthcoming general elections.
The presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, promised the gathering that if elected as the president, his priorities include bringing peace into the country.
“I am a politician, I am a businessman, I am into many things, I am also a farmer and knows exactly what the problem of Nigerians are.
“I have more than a thousand cows in my farm, please we should not allow someone who’s cows has not grown from 150 to come here and tell us lies and propaganda again.
The Senate President, Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki, described the day as history-making based on the turnout.
According to Saraki, ” As the DG of the campaign, when we Zone the flagging off here, they said Northwest is a no-go area because of APC.
” My people in the Northwest, we are here to introduce the man that will help in bringing food on your table, he has done it before and he can also do better.
While introducing the candidate, the campaign presidential campaign spokesman, Senator Dino Melaye, described the incumbent president, President Muhammadu Buhari as not the same Buhari we all know, who once fought a civil war to see the country together.
Melaye described the present situation whereby Nigerians are being killed as no sign of security in the country.
He described the crowd present at the venue as a testimony that APC has lost total control of the country politically, especially in North West Zone which hitherto is the main zone of the APC in the last general election and described the rally as the permanent obituary of APC in the North West zone.
In his remarks, the governor of the Sokoto, Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, commended the PDP for bringing the flagging off of the presidential campaign to Sokoto
He described the presidential candidate as a son of the soil in the state, where he is always welcome anytime.
Tambuwal further described Atiku as a complete democratic person, who will use his experience not only to develop the country but also to unite the country amidst killings being witnessed all over the country.
He thanks the people of the Zone, especially that of Sokoto for the warm reception given the presidential candidate and his entourage in the state.
Also speaking, the head of Kwankasiya group and the former governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Kwankaso, also extol the qualities of the candidate and praised his doggedness in fighting for the cause of the masses.
He challenged the people of the Zone to rally round PDP and vote massively for the candidate of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in the forthcoming general elections come next year.
While delivering his speech, former governor of Jigawa state, Alhaji Sule Lamido advised the people of the zone to vote massively for PDP, describing the era of APC, as the worst in the history of Nigeria
He condemned the party for not only failed in the area of security of Nigerians but only generalized poverty among his citizens where Nigerian now find it difficult to feed their families.
Former interim chairman of the PDP and former two-time governor of Kaduna state also decried the level of insecurity in the country where kidnappers now have a field day on our major roads, such as Kaduna to Abuja road.
The speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara advised the people not to take the coming elections like that of PDP against APC or Atiku against Buhari, but should take it as a contest between Nigerian against the ruling party.
He described the situation of the country where hunger and Insecurity have almost turn the country upside down.
