Two men who allegedly gang-raped a teenage girl were on Friday charged before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The accused, Opeyemi Ogunlusi (21), and Musa Haruna (22), both unemployed and resident at Old Abeokuta Motor Road, Agege.
They are being tried on a three-count charge of conspiracy, abduction and gang rape.
The Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Raphael Donny, told the court that the offences were committed between June 23 and July 23, at the residence of the accused.
Donny said that the accused abducted the 17- year-old girl to their residence for a month and gang-raped her.
“It was one of the friends of the victim who sighted her in front of the residence of the accused who alerted her parents.
“The case was reported at the police station and the accused were apprehended,’’ he said.
The offences, the prosecutor said, contravened Sections 268, 269 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge brought against them.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Folakemi Davies-Abegunde, granted the accused bail in the sum N100, 000 each, with two sureties in like sum.
Davies-Abegunde later adjourned the case until Aug. 28, for mention.
