THE Acting chief judge, Kano state High Court of Justice, Hon Justice Nura Sagir on Wednesday in Kano, set free 19 persons from prison custody.
Justice Sagir set the affected prisoners when he visited the state central prison located at Kurmawa within Kano metropolis, where he rolled out the parole of mercy in consonance with the provision of the criminal custody act.
However, the Nigeria Prison Service, Kano state command had enlisted 107 inmates, on a proposed parole list, as part of efforts to decongest the central prison facility.
Those inmates that were relased were alleged to be involved in minor offences, alongside those inmates held under custody for four years and above without being subjected to trial before a competent court of jurisdiction.
He charged, the release detainees to continue to exercise good behavior, further charging them to integrate into the society.
