THERE are high hopes that most people who participated in the previous INEC voters registration exercises in Anambra state will cast the ballot after all.
This is because the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state has commenced grassroots distribution of Permanent Voters Card (PVC) at the ward levels.
With this eleven-day ward level PVC distribution exercise, Anambra electorate will likely swell by close to two hundred thousand voters.
It was gathered that one hundred and forty three thousand unclaimed PVCs and fifty three thousand others who registered between February and April this year were among the PVCS now being distributed across the three hundred and twenty six wards in the state.

Speaking on what they titled Special Intervention Scheme on distribution and Collection of voters card, the Head Department of Voter Education , INEC Awka, Mr Leo Ikedife noted that the move became imperative due to the worrisome large number of uncollected PVCs as well as the challenges faced by residents in accessing the various INEC offices at the local government.
Mr Nkedife revealed that the Commission had since last week hit the ground running with sensitisation programmes in the state ahead of the distribution process and stated categorically that anyone who fails to collect at the ward level, can go to the INEC offices at the local government headquarters across the state before February eight 2019.
Our correspondent observed that at some wards in Awka metropolis, INEC officers were on ground, issuing voters Card following the directive of the state Residents Commissioner, Dr Nkwachukwu Orji.
However, some residents are yet to turn up for the collection as according to the official, they are coming out in little number.
He said that those registered between May to August 2018 will receive their voters cards at a date to be announced later when ready from the commission headquater in Abuja.
