Primate, The Church of the Lord Aladura Worldwide (TCLAW), Most Reverend (Dr) Rufus Okikiola Ositelu, has lauded the Federal Government for the steps taken to curb hate speeches.
He stated this in his message at the grand finale of the 81st Tabieorar festival of The Church of the Lord Aladura Worldwide (TCLAW), at Ogere-Remo, Ogun State, with the theme, Everlasting Joy.
Speaking on the state of the nation, Primate Ositelu, who called for adequate provision of power, good road and railway networks, housing, health and education policies for the citizenry, also charged the government to “kill corruption” so that Nigeria could “take its rightful position economically, socially and politically among the comity of nations.”
He commended Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for his “exceptional sense of loyalty and sterling leadership qualities as acting president” and called for an end to “all forms of violence against women and children.”
He also commended the appointment of Professor Bolaji Owasanoye, as the new chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC).
Speaking on Everlasting Joy, he stated that “complete joy is found only in God’s presence.” He spoke on the types of joy.
“There are two types of joy: human or natural joy and divine, supernatural or everlasting joy. Human joy is temporary because the sense of joy is linked to a particular circumstance, while to have everlasting joy, one must believe that Christ is God’s begotten Son; receive Him as Saviour and Lord; do what He says; believe the Gospel of Christ and relate in love to the commands of Christ,” he stated.
Ten students of different tertiary institutions received the annual Rufus Okikiola Ositelu Foundation (ROOF) scholarship award at the festival.
According to the Foundation’s Board of Trustees chairman, Reverend Solomon Olusoga Badejo, ROOF has assisted about 40 indigent students since its inception six years ago, with some students bagging the award twice and others, three times.
Guests at the festival included Reverend Christine Guhne of Bread for the World, Germany; Moderator, World Council of Churches, Geneva, Switzerland, Dr Agnes Aboum and Director, Theology, Family Life and Gender Justice, All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC), Nairobi, Kenya, Reverend (Dr) Lydia Mwaniki.
The programme also featured guest artiste, Evangelist Bukola Akinade, (aka) Senwele Jesu, the church’s choir and thousands of worshippers.
