THE Ogun State Government on Thursday allocated 1,050 shops and stalls to traders whose shops were demolished during road constructions in various parts of Abeokuta, the state capital.
The state government had constructed ultra-modern shops at Omida, Kemta, Itoku, automobiles Spare Parts market, Isale -Igbein, Sapon and Neighborhood market at Laderin.
Addressing beneficiaries of the malls and stalls, Governor Ibikunle Amosun, urged them to maintain the facilities, saying that more of such facilities would be inaugurated in other parts of the state.
He said that the shops and stalls were built to accommodate different categories of traders.
Amosun said that the shops and stalls would be sold outrightly to the traders while payment would be spread over a year or two.
“Our administration has spent huge amount of money to put these facilities in place. These shops and malls would cater for all categories of traders. We’ll continue to embark on people-oriented projects,” he added.
He further said that keys would be handed over to the beneficiaries as soon as they perfect their payment plans.
Present at the ceremony were traditional rulers, religious leaders and other stakeholders in the “Ogun Standard Project”.
Responding to the gesture, the Olubara of Ibara, Oba Jacob Omolade, commended the state government for the laudable projects.
